Assessment - New Detroit CCI Year 4
New Detroit's Compassion Capital Initiative addresses the inequities which have resulted from the impact of racism by providing opportunities for community and faith-based organizations to improve their program and organizational infrastructure. During 2004 New Detroit was one of 45 intermediaries in the country selected to implement a three-year federal grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.
The purpose of CCI is to assist small faith and community-based organizations in strengthening their programmatic and organizational infrastructure. The Compassion Capital Initiative is comprised of two paths, the organizational capacity path and the program capacity path. The organizational path focuses on strengthening the infrastructure and efficiency of the organization through a $10,000 award to hire a consultant for capacity building purposes, such as, strategic planning, fund development or board development. The program path provides technical assistance training for emerging organizations through 40 consultant hours and a series of workshops including, logic model, program planning I & II, program evaluation.
